I decided to put off goofy vs. regular so I can bring this to your attention.....Fresh vs. Hesh. Before I get into this. Let me make this clear..... WE are all skateboarders. Striving for the same common goals.(i.e. better parks, no cops at street spots,people that want to film and take photos, landing tricks with style, etc..). This kind of division is happening among us. If you like Corey duffel you can't like Stevie Williams (this has nothing to do with the completly blown out of proportion beef these two supposedly had). You like andrew renyolds you can't like Peter Smolik. I always thought it was about skating. Sure, I understand if you happen to like andrew reynolds more than peter smolik, or visa-versa, but to not like a skater because they are fresh or hesh , rock or hip-hop is stupid. I saw a kid at my local shop ask to have a part skipped because the part had rap music insted of punk,metal,emo, whatever this perticular kid liked. Now there were like 6 other kids in the shop who said nothing. this deprives them of some skater who put blood, sweat and tears, (as i heard Marc Johnson did for Fully Flared) into this part just to have it skipped by music selection, the fact he has a shirt thats 3 sizes too big, a tilted fitted hat or baggy jeans. The flipside is a more "urban" shop not playing videos because all the guys wearing tigh jeans,tight shrts,eyeliner, have funny dyed hair or have heavy metal,punk,emo music in thier part. This is stupid. I'm sorry i'm not taking sides. I like SKATING. Fresh or hesh we are in this together. I remember being at the park and marveling at the fact ,that under any other circumstance, these guys would not be friends. You had black and white fresh skaters (ex. beible,buttryass donavan,peter smolik, tyrone olson,chad muska,ronnie creager,tom penny style of dudes) not only kickin it and coversating , but being boys with hesh kids(andrew reynolds,jim greco,corey duffel, don nuyuan, tony trijillo, julian stranger type of dudes.) look i'm not doing this to offend any of the afore mentioned skaters. no offense intended. i'm simply talking about music and clothing selection. should or is that enough to not be friends with someone or like their stlye. the answer is NO people. look Dustin Dollin and Stevie Williams are homies. if that isn't polar oppisites this reporter doesn't know what is. all i'm saying. In skating , as in everything in life, there are different people doing it. This is probably why most of us started in the first place......to be different....right? now we hate on each other?c'mon people all we got is us in this.....stop skate on skate crime...peace. if you likey drop me a line with a comment. if you don't likey you're and idiot plain and simple.
