Switchstance: amazing or redundant?

There are regular tricks, tricks off the front of the board (nollie), and tricks going backwards (fakie). Switch stance tricks are mirror images of regular tricks.

Do you think that makes them awesome, or boring? Anyone prefer certain switch tricks? Because of looks, or because they're easier? Anyone avoid switch at all costs?

Switch is awesome because some tricks you can do regular you cant do switch and vise versa it adds character and depth in the way poeple skate. not to mention nollie treflips rule; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by howli on March 4, 2009 at 10:54am: i wouldnt say that switch is a mirror image of regular as i think a lot of skaters face slightly backwards or pop/catch/land differently somehow. when you watch a pro who has mastered switch, even if you dont know their stance offhand you still know when theyre skating switch. so i wouldnt say people only skate switch to prove they can, i think switch tricks (when done well) have a lot of grace. i personally have limited switch tricks but theyre coming on...
Also think how phat it would be to cruise round a huge city ea skate style just toggling between stances and bolting tricks in reg and goofy; thats why you need to learn switch!; ▶ Reply to This
